The West Central Valley Boys Track and Field Team participated in the Merritt-Charger Invitational at AC/GC High School in Guthrie Center on Monday, as freshman Drew Teague walked away with the gold in the 400 Meter Hurdle competition.

Teague ran 1:04.36 in the event to tally first place and marked eighth in the 110 Meter Hurdles at 18.90 seconds. Other Wildcats that performed well included junior Mason Fuller that nabbed second place in the open 400 Meters with a time of 54.14 seconds, followed by sophomore Kael Sawyers in fourth going 55.73 seconds. 

Also, Sawyers along with freshman Caden Lane completed a height of five feet and six inches in the High Jump for third and fourth places respectively. For the relays, West Central Valley’s Boys Distance Medley captured third going 3:59.38, and the 800 Sprint Medley garnered seventh place at 1:42.94.

The Wildcats’ Boys and Girls Teams will now prepare for the Iowa High School Class 2A State Qualifying Meet in Treynor on Thursday, beginning at 4pm. The full results from the Merritt-Charger Invite can be found by clicking here.
