District 12 Senator Amy Sinclair
The Iowa 2026 Legislative session has been over for nearly two weeks now.
Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair says that she believes the session has gone very well overall, with both the House and Senate able to work through some contentious issues. She shares what she believes is the biggest achievement of the session.
“The property tax bill that we finally got worked out, it’s been a two-year process to go through those issues, and honestly, probably more like a four or five-year process, because it dates back to that House File 718 that we passed initially just to get a gauge of where we were and to get our arms wrapped around what property taxes are doing.”
Sinclair tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they were able to hammer out details of what tax relief in the next six years will look like for Iowans, mentioning that there should be $4.2 billion in relief. She adds that while it doesn’t happen immediately, it is still property tax relief, and that it also gives some predictability for home owners.
