The Stuart Police Department responded to an unattended death yesterday.

According to the department, they responded at 7:39pm to a report of an unconscious male inside a vehicle in the Maverik gas station parking lot. The department says upon arriving at the scene, it was determined that the male was deceased. Police identified the individual as a 71 year old from Winterset. Authorities say there is no indication of foul play at this time, and that the death appears to be consistent with natural causes. The department adds that the body was transported to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner for further examination.
