The next fundraising event for the Perry Chamber of Commerce’s fireworks drive begins next week.

Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says the Grocery Bill Roundup will kick off on Monday and will run through Memorial Day on May 25.

She shares that both Fareway and Hy-Vee in Perry will be participating, as customers will be asked to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar, with the funds going to the Fourth of July Fireworks Drive.

“All of those pennies and dollars add up to support the Fourth of July fireworks. So kind of a patriotic Memorial Day weekend, gearing up for the Fourth of July weekend.”

Pasutti details the chamber has an $18,000 goal to reach and thanks to donations brought in from the Radio Pie Auction, Big Boom Bracket Battle and the Centerpiece Auction, this goal has already been met. She explains that funds raised during the Grocery Bill Roundup will go towards next year’s Fourth of July fireworks display.
