Greene County took part in a Class 2A Coed State Qualifying Meet on Thursday in Story City. When the Rams left for home they knew they had four events for boys and three for girls that automatically qualified for the May 21-23 action in Des Moines at Drake Stadium. Those events all placed second on Thursday and all first and second place finishers in 2A are automatic State qualifiers
The Rams found out yesterday they have additional qualifiers that were among the next eight best 2A performances statewide. That list includes junior Zack Stalder in the 100 meter dash for boys at :11.53 seconds and senior Rafe Michaelsen in the discus throw. For girls, the events include senior Kaycee Pittman in the 800 meter run in 2:21.89 and the sprint medley relay in 1:53.15 with senior Addison Gannon, junior Sara Morlan, plus senior Becca Anderson and Pittman. Pittman had the sixth fastest 2A qualifying time while Anderson goes into State number 12, and the sprint medley is 20th.
Automatic qualifiers for the girls are Anderson in the 200 meter dash, the distance medley relay of Gannon, sophomore Hanna Fouch, Anderson, and Pittman, and the 4 x 400 meter relay of Gannon, Anderson, Fouch, and Pittman. Automatic qualifiers for the boys are senior Drew Wolterman in the 800 meter run, the sprint medley relay of juniors Jaron Jacobs, Lincoln Schwander, Stalder, and Wolterman, the 4 x 100 relay with Jacobs, senior Aden Bardole, Schwander, and Stadler, as well as the 4 x 400 relay with Jacobs, Schwander, Bardole, and Wolterman.
