An update on the County Road P28/Wagon Road Rehabilitation project has been released.
Guthrie County Supervisor Maggie Armstrong says that the project will begin later this month or early June, weather permitting. Construction will require the closure of the road to through traffic for the entirety of the project, and this closure is expected to remain in effect through mid to late summer. Armstrong shares that while the road will be closed to through traffic, adjacent property owners will continue to have access to private driveways and laneways throughout the project, and that an official detour route will be available for through traffic.
Armstrong mentions that access to Nation’s Bridge Park will stay open for the duration of the road closure, with visitors during the month of June to access the park from the north via Panora, Monteith Road or county Road F59/280th Road. Starting in July, visitors and campers heading to Nation’s Bridge should approach from the south via Stuart. Armstrong adds that campers and visitors to the park should make sure to check the Guthrie County Conservation Facebook page for route information and changes.
This project will improve the road by widening it to improve traffic flow and safety, install shoulder and centerline rumble strips to alert drivers, and make a stronger road surface and smoother driving experience. For project updates, check the County’s website or Facebook page.
