Home State Bank in Jefferson is hosting a free community event later this week.
Marketing and Communications Director Jackie Cunningham says the Annual Shred Day is happening Thursday from 9-10:30am. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they are jazzing up this event with having a coffee truck on site, for purchase, from 8am-noon and live music as well.
Cunningham points out that items that will be accepted are tissue paper or paper towels, steel strips in hanging folders and three-ringed binders, carbon paper, along with newspapers and cardboard. She notes items that won’t be accepted include batteries, plastic, metal, glass and food.
Cunningham states that Home State Bank is also conducting its food drive as well. She says anyone can drop off non-perishable food items either during the Shred Day event or if someone wants to make a food or monetary donation, they can do so through the bank’s north entrance all day from 9am-4pm with all donations to benefit the local food pantry in Jefferson, the Greene County Action Resource Center. Cunningham details that Home State Bank will also contribute $0.25 per pound of shred material collected. She notes that last year, they were able to raise a truck bed full of food and their goal is to double that this time.
Cunningham says that people who want to participate in the Shred Day event, can enter from East Lincoln Way, stay in your vehicle and Home State Bank staff will unload and shred items for you without having to leave your vehicle. She adds that having a coffee truck and live music is a way to engage even more people to participate and be a part of their event.
