It is National Public Works Department Week and the city of Jefferson has several employees that work in the various departments.
City Administrator Scott Peterson says there is the Street, Water, Wastewater, Storm Sewer, Parks and Cemeteries, along with Sanitation and Recycling Departments that makeup the entire Public Works Department, which is led by the Director, Dave Morlan, and he has lots of responsibilities to make sure every department has what it needs to be as successful as possible.
“Congratulations to Dave on the job that he’s done coordinating his staff members. But just tons of appreciation to those staff members who show up everyday to make sure that the waters running and the sewer works just fine, when you know you put your garbage and recycling out, you know that’s attended to, and you can get to your job or to school without falling into big potholes on the street. We know the Public Works guys are there to attend to all of those things.”
Peterson points out that from time to time, all of the city staff in those Public Works Departments work together to accomplish whatever project is needed, with an example of snow removal, where everyone is expected to help out.
“That’s the way it really needs to be and that’s how we can successfully attack big projects. Really does take that effort of everyone pulling in the same direction in order to make that happen.”
Peterson encourages everyone to show their appreciation to everyone in the different departments that make up Jefferson Public Works.
