Class 2A Substate soccer starts tonight for the Greene County Rams as they host the Harlan Community Cyclones at Linduska Field in Jefferson. Both teams are slightly above the .500 mark with Harlan at 8-7-2 and Coach Chad Black’s Rams are 7-5 after being weathered out on Friday night at Wall Lake vs. East Sac County. The Rams began soccer in 2018 and they’ve won more matches than they’ve lost every single season. There was no 2020 season due to the Pandemic.
The Rams have not won in May, going 0-3 and scoring just one goal while allowing eight in losses to PCM (Monroe) 2-1, 2-0 to Des Moines Christian, and 4-0 to Nevada.
The Rams and Cyclones have several common opponents with both losing by a goal to Carroll, and by a goal to Winterset. Both have wins vs. Logan-Magnolia, and the Rams have a 3-1 victory vs. Kuemper Catholic while the Cyclones and Knights tied at two goals each. The Cyclones have won their last two games by shut out while the Rams have not scored in their last two.
