Earlier in the week the final Iowa High School softball pairings for each class were announced.
In class 4A the ADM Lady Tigers, now ranked third in class 4A has earned a first round bye for their run at the state tournament. ADM earned that ranking on the heels of just three loses for the season. This year the Lady Tigers drew Region 1 to start their postseason run and will commence their first 2016 regional match against the first round winner between Denison-Schleswig and Storm Lake. On the other side of Region 1 it will be LeMars taking on Spencer in the first round with the winner to play the Bishop Heelan Lady Crusaders. From there it would be the highest remaining seed who would host the Region 1 championship and a chance to go to the coveted state tournament. If the Lady Tigers advance past their second round match up they would yield the home field advantage.
Interesting note, neither ADM, Carlisle, or Winterset among others, will not be facing each other throughout regional play. That would be due in large part to the fact that ADM, Carlisle, and Winterset are three of the top three teams in all of class 4A meaning each team will receive a number one seed and a first round bye.
