There are a few changes and new additions to this year’s Greene County Fair.
The Beef Barbecue is on Friday at 5:30pm at the bus barn, sponsored by the Greene County Cattlemen’s Association and will also feature the Town and Country Band. The Pork and Lamb Barbecue is on Saturday at 5:30pm at the bus barn and it is sponsored by the Pork and Lamb Producers. Both are co-sponsored by the Greene County Fair Association.
The Fair Association is also taking over the ag appreciation breakfast on Monday, July 18th, which will be in Clover Hall at 8am, followed by the Junior Premium Auction at 8:30am.
Being a former 4-H’er, Fair Board President Bob Allen recalls what the auction was like when he was growing up.
“The auction was a little bit different at that time, I showed cattle and we actually sold the animal at the fair. And it was always nice to kind of put a final end to the project. I know a lot of the younger 4-H’ers there was always a lot of sad days too especially with the livestock, they get pretty attached to them and then to see them go was always pretty hard I think.”
Some of the other attractions include Poppin’ Penelope, Monster Arm Wrestling and Matt’s Family Jam-A Show Band.
