In their final Raccoon River Conference game of the regular season against Carlisle, the ADM baseball team went toe to toe with class 3A’s 8th ranked Wildcat squad in a down to the wire ball game as ADM looked to even the season series. The game would have to go all the way down to the final three outs of the game to decide a victor. For the ADM Tigers however, their quest to even the season series would be thwarted with a 7-5 Carlisle victory.
Carlisle jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning putting a little scare in the ADM Tiger line ups as a result of an RBI single and a couple errors in the first inning. They would increase their lead earning a run in the 2nd inning while answering ADM’s one run top of the third with a run of their own to make it a 5-1 ball game.
The Tiger speed and bats would come alive in the 4th inning as Dalton Hews would add two more RBI’s to his season count sparking ADM’s first home run of the season to right center field decreasing the Wildcat lead now 5-3. Jack O’Brien would cut that lead down even further with an RBI single in the top half of the sixth inning now a 5-4 Carlisle lead. The Tigers wouldn’t stop there however as two batters later ADM catcher Nick Lindgren continued his hot streak to tie the game at 5-5 with an RBI single of his own; part of a 3-4 night for him consisting of a double and two singles.
4 ADM batters beat out infield grounders for the contest which also forced 3 Wildcat errors keeping the game close throughout the entire game.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, Carlisle DH Max Goodhue would take a two out pitch to left field for a 2 RBI single. That would be followed by another 1-2-3 inning for the Tiger bats ending the game for both squads sending the Wildcats back with a 7-5 victory.
All in all it was one of the better hitting nights the Tigers have had in quite some time earning 5 runs off of 8 hits and just 2 errors on the night. A performance that ADM head baseball coach Jason Book was very proud of:
