endalzA wide variety of items will be up for auction this weekend as a local family looks to raise money to cure the disease that took one of their loved ones all too early.

Alzheimer’s disease took the life of Bob Nevitt’s wife Barb in 2013 and for years he, his daughter Heather Nevitt Van Lin and their family have been raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

The second annual fundraising night is taking place this Saturday in Perry and Bob says they’ve secured several donations.

“We have two fire rings donated this year, one is a (University of) Iowa and one is an Iowa State (University) fire pit, four Iowa football tickets. Heather is donating a four-day stay in Charleston (North Carolina) in her guest house.  Some of the other things are a one-year Snap Fitness membership.  We’ve got some very nice silent auction items such as a pass for four to golf at the Lake Panorama National Golf and Country Club, there’s a quilt donated and then we’ve got some professional photo sessions, Iowa Cubs tickets and Iowa State basketball tickets.  Just an array of things you can bid on.”

The event takes place Saturday starting at 6pm at the Perry Golf and Country Club.  It will also feature live music and a buffet dinner.  Tickets are a $25 donation per person, or $40 for a couple.

We’ll have more from Nevitt on today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County.
