At long last the ADM Tiger football season is underway as the Tiger football team will commence with first practices of camp.
The Tigers are looking to forget and bounce back from their 3-6 season the year prior as they start off with a fresh new season and a brand new playing surface. Head coach Mike Whisner and his Tiger team are optimistic about an improved season this year, but they will have to do so with some new faces at new positions as the loss of 17 seniors took away some key components from last season.
The most notable losses for the Tigers will start with the man under center as Frank Weiland will no longer wear a Tiger uniform. Weiland was the main man under center with 196 passing attempts resulting in 14 interceptions and 8 touchdowns totaling 1,157 yards through the air. The Tigers will also miss Weiland’s team leading rushing production rushing 84 times for 292 yards resulting in four touchdowns. Other notable losses would include receiving leaders Daniel Finnegan and Jacob Hardy. Finnegan led the Tigers in receptions with 45 and yards with 470 while Hardy led the team in yards per catch with 14 and touchdowns with 3.
On the flip side of that coin the Tigers are retaining their second leading rusher from last season in Nick Lindgren with 206 rushing yards along with Sam McCartney’s 229 receiving yards, also second best on the team from last year. On the defensive side of the ball, ADM will retain the services of last years tackles leader Kade Overton.
Football season at ADM high school will un-officially kick off today with first practice of camp set to begin at 4:00 this afternoon.
