Greene County RamsEven though students don’t start back to school until Wednesday in the Greene County School District, parents have an opportunity to meet with teachers and staff today and tomorrow.

Superintendent Tim Christensen says they are going to have mini-conferences, which is something they started last year.

“Try to bring all the parents in to have a little conference before the start of the school year with teachers to kind of give them an opportunity to educate the teachers on the needs of their students and what they need and how they learn, those types of things.”

Christensen points out that they’ve made a slight change to how they are conducting the mini-conferences this year.

“Some of the feedback that we’ve received (is that) it would’ve been nice to have some evening hours as well. So that’s one change we made this year is that on Monday, we’re actually looking as basically teachers will be in here from 12(pm) to 8 o’clock. The mini conferences will be some evening hours.”

Christensen believes having mini-conferences helps to improve better communication between teachers and parents before the beginning of the school year.
