McChesneyA Perry man faces several additional charges, including a felony, after assaulting a deputy while in the Dallas County jail.

Lieutenant Adam Infante with the Dallas County Sheriff’s office tells Raccoon Valley Radio Donald Leroy McChesney II was failing to comply with jail regulations around 11:30pm Thursday.  Infante says deputies spent a “considerable amount of time” attempting to convince the inmate to comply but he refused and threatened to assault the deputies.

Officers had to use physical force, including the deployment of a Taser, to eventually get McChesney to comply with orders.  Infante says during the process the inmate disarmed the Taser and also physically assaulted one of the deputies, causing minor bleeding.

As a result, McChesney was further charged with a Class D Felony for disarming a peace officer, along with assault causing injury to a peace officer, interference with official acts and criminal mischief.

McChesney was originally booked into the Dallas County jail on July 26th after being charged with theft, interference with official acts and possession of drug paraphernalia by the Perry Police Department.

He remains held in the Dallas County jail.
