A Scranton boy was taken to a Des Moines hospital following an ATV accident Monday.
Greene County Sheriff Steve Haupert says at 7:25pm, a boy and his father were checking on a cattle fence for possible repairs in the 700 block of 202nd Street in rural Scranton. The father was turning the all-terrain vehicle when it rolled onto the passenger side where the five year-old boy was sitting.
Haupert says the boy went over the safety handle of the ATV and was pinned underneath it when it rolled. He suffered head injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Greene County Medical Center. The victim was responsive and talking when he arrived at the hospital. He was later taken by helicopter to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines and his status is unknown at this time.
The father was uninjured in the accident.
