Dallas County Habitat for Humanity is putting the thousands of dollars they received from 100+ People for Perry to good use this week with their final Rock the Block efforts of the year.
Outreach Coordinator Omar Padilla says the goal is to both help those in need and help motivate others to make their own improvements.
“Once (last year in Perry) we were working on two houses on the same street, across the street people started painting their houses and the community just revitalized. How wonderful it is to get that impact of you helping one neighbor and that neighbor helps the other one.”
Volunteers are still needed to help work on the projects through Saturday. Shifts are held daily from 8am until 4pm.
Perry is the fifth community the local Habitat chapter has worked in this summer. Other 2016 projects were done in Adel, Dallas Center, Redfield and Waukee.
