The beginning of fall means the beginning of hunting season in Iowa, and authorities are reminding hunters that safety is the most important aspect of the sport.
Iowa DNR Conservation Officer Jeremy King says wearing proper hunting attire is an important focus during youth deer hunting season. “During that time, the youth hunter must be wearing, at minimum, a solid blaze orange vest, while engaged in hunting deer. Some people get hung up on that ‘solid blaze orange’ vest. Some people have the black camouflage stripes in it that look like tree branches, or reflective vests, or mesh, and that’s one of the things we’re sticklers on because it’s a safety issue, and that vest has to be solid blaze orange.”
King will provide more hunter safety tips for us today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
