Another solid year and another solid performance from both ADM cross country teams at the Raccoon River Conference meet on Monday.
The 2016 edition of the conference meet reveled both Tiger teams inside the top five team finishers in the meet with the boys squad earning 5th and the girls squad taking 3rd place overall.
Raccoon Valley Radio caught up with ADM head cross country coach David Zwank to get his take on his teams performance in the conference meet. Coach Zwank’s biggest praise was the effort given by both squads in a very competitive field.
“Their effort was great. That was what you want talking about trying to finish the season as best you can. This is just the start of trying to get that done but I thought that everyone did that across the board. JV, varsity, it didn’t matter; they all went out and competed,” stated coach Zwank.
One of the individuals who helped lead the way and came away with great improvement was senior leader and now all conference runner Brady Meier for the boys squad. Meier finished 17th overall and received some well earned praise from coach Zwank in the process.
“We did have improvement talking boys side. Brady Meier improved his career PR on that course. When you consider that his career PR came from a pretty flat course it’s a pretty good example of he knew where to work and where to push and how to work the hills so he ran a really good race,” stated coach Zwank.
Both Tiger squads will now be hitting practices hard in preparation for their state qualifying meet held on October 20th at the Atlantic Golf & Country Club.
