In a football game that was supposed to be evenly matched on paper was anything but as Greene County rolled over Perry 38-0 in Jefferson Friday night.  The Rams took advantage of great field position early and often in the first half en route to their first win in District 2 play.

Disaster struck early for the Bluejays after going 3 and out on their first possession German Alvaranga’s punt hit the backside of one of his blockers and was recovered by Trey Tucker and returned to the Perry 14 yard line.  Greene County quarterback Clint Dennhardt got the scoring started with a one yard touchdown run with 7:11 to go in the first quarter.

The Rams second possession started in the 1st quarter and was capped off as the second quarter began with a 28 yard Nick Schroeder field goal into the wind to put Greene County up 10-0.  The next possession for Perry ended much like the first possession, as Greene County got a great surge up the middle and blocked Alvaranga’s punt attempt and again ended up with the ball inside of Perry’s 20 yard line.  Dennhardt put it in the end zone again, this time from 6 yards out on a quarterback keeper around the left side.  The Rams added another touchdown this time through the air from four yards out on a Dennhardt to Schroeder connection with just :14 left in the first half, putting Greene County up 24-0 at the half .

Dennhardt and Schroeder hooked up again on a trick play that started as a simple handoff to Trey Tucker to the left before he handed off to a receiver coming back to the right who tossed it back to Dennhardt who found a wide open Schroeder for a 34 yard touchdown strike with 5:13 to go in the 3rd quarter.  Tucker capped off the scoring on a 13 yard Tucker touchdown run with 9:24 to go in the game, putting Greene County up 38-0.
