domestic violenceOctober is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and law enforcement play a vital role in those situations.

Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says they don’t look forward to responding to domestic abuse calls, but it’s part of their job and they conduct investigations of each call. They also have items to help children if they are involved in domestic incidents.

“We have some small teddy bears that the deputies carry to give to the kids if we think that’ll help them and sometimes it does. We don’t ever look forward to going to domestic violence situations, but we do the best we can to help the victims and do what we need to do keep people safe.”

Arganbright adds that they also have numbers for different resources to help with the victims of domestic violence, such as Crisis Intervention in Adel.
