rep_BaltimoreToday we begin looking at the race for Iowa House District 47.

Republican incumbent Chip Baltimore is seeking his fourth term in the Iowa House of Representatives. He grew up on a farm near Oskaloosa in southeast Iowa. After he graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in finance, he went on to graduate from law school in Minnesota. He moved to Boone in the mid-1990s where he has practiced private law for ten years. The last 11 years, he’s been with Boone Bank and Trust as their general counsel and trust officer.

He was first elected to the Iowa House in 2010 and has served on the commerce, economic growth, ways and means and local government committees. For the last four years, he’s been the chair of the house judiciary committee. He is running for another term because he says there’s still plenty of issues that need to be solved.

“What we’re really seeing more so is challenges in terms of good jobs, non-agricultural economic growth we’re also struggling in terms of trying to get our public school system operating at a peak efficiency in a rural economy and in a rural area where we’re losing students.”

He is running against Democrat candidate Deb Duncan.
