The elephant in the room when the ADM girls’ basketball team hosts Carroll tonight is how the game between these two teams ended the first time around.  ADM lead through most of the game and second half butt back-to-back turnovers in the final minute allowed Carroll back in the game and from there they relied on senior Brittany Holdsworth who drained a 3-pointer in the closing seconds to give Carroll a 57-56 victory.  After the loss head coach Brett Watson said that he felt the girls panicked there in the closing minute of the game and the decisions in the final sixty seconds played a big part in Carroll’s comeback.

However when we spoke with coach Watson this week he said that the fact that Carroll won a close game, and in dramatic fashion late in the 4th quarter, doesn’t mean that this Tiger vs. Tiger game tonight has any more significance than any other conference game.  Watson said that his team is focused on themselves and taking care of what needs to be done.

An obvious area for ADM to focus on tonight will be Holdsworth, whose 15.5 points per game is more than double that of anyone else on her team, and when the two teams met in Carroll Holdsworth put up 23 points, again, more than double that of anyone else on her squad.  But Holdsworth wasn’t the only Tiger to catch fire that night as ADM’s Madi Bertman led all scorers with 24 points and ADM may need to rely on Bertman again to ignite their offense against Carroll.
