Now that the elections have come and gone, one position in Guthrie County was an uncontested race for Auditor.

The new Auditor will be Republican Marci McClellan. She ran unopposed in the general election after securing the Republican nomination in the June primary election.

Retiring Auditor Jerri Christman started her tenure as auditor in April of 2007 as an appointment by the County Board of Supervisors. She said she was appointed when then Auditor John Rutledge resigned. Before she became auditor, she was the Chief Financial Officer for Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa. She moved back to Guthrie County to help with the family farm when she applied for the position.

She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she is retiring to help out more on the family farm and get a part-time job.

Christman will miss working with everyone in her office the most once she retires at the end of the year. She wishes McClellan the best of luck as auditor going forward.
