guthrie-co-supervisors-11_15The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday in regular session.

County Recorder Tristen Richard informed the Board that she hired a part-time employee recently.

Chris Whitaker from Region XII Council of Governments updated the Board on several projects. He said so far for this year, the County has collected over $2,000 in zoning permit fees. He also recommended that the Board update their floodplain ordinance prior to when the Federal Emergency Management Agency releases their floodplain zoning maps next April. He then explained the process of approving a plat of survey. A landowner wants to divide their property in the near future. Finally, Whitaker told the Board that Heartland Divide Wind Project LLC from California wants to install a wind observation tower in Township 79. The Board of Adjustment will meet and consider approving the project.

The Board approved a $625,000 tax increment financing advance request from County Engineer Josh Sebern. Currently, the County is receiving $82,800 of interest from a previous wind turbine project and they are receiving an additional $143,588. It is estimated that the amount will increase by at least $70,000 per year for the next four years. The County was left with over $100,000 in the ending fund balance. The funds that Sebern requested will be used to pay for the Menlo dump road bridge project and the Rose Acres road.

The Board also approved the construction plans for next year’s road project on county road P-18 of the Bagley blacktop. Sebern said the contractor will grind up the current material and apply a fresh coat of oil to it and then apply three-inches of asphalt over the top. Bid letting is scheduled for February.

There were no changes to any of the general election results following the canvass of votes by the Supervisors.

Finally, the Board hear questions from Janet Oberholtz about cabinets at the County Home.
