Greene County 4-H new member night was recently held in Jefferson.
Extension Director Lori Mannel says ten youth and their families participated. The youth worked with the young leaders, while the parents received information about how to help their child to be successful in 4-H. Mannel points out that there was an extra special treat with a guest speaker.
“The (Iowa) Bee Queen came and spoke for about 20 minutes on all about bees. The kids really were very interested in her topic. She was so knowledgeable.”
Following a short program at the Extension office, everyone then enjoyed free bowling and pizza at Spare Time Lanes.
“It’s always a fun night. Thank you to all the young leaders and the 4-H adult volunteers that came out and help support that.”
The new member night event is an opportunity for those interested in 4-H to learn more about the program and whether or not they want to join.
