Both ADM Tiger basketball squads were on the road Friday night for a conference match up in Perry taking on the Jays and Jayetts. ADM was hoping for a repeat performance from last year with both Tiger teams defeating Perry on their home court but this time out it was not meant to be. The Lady Tigers found themselves down early and often against the Jayetts losing out by the final score of 51-42 while the Tiger boys squad watched a three point halftime lead evaporate late in the second half as the tide turned towards the hometown team with the Blue Jays coming out on top 62-39.

In the girls contest, ADM kept it close through two quarters just a five point deficit after one cut to a three point deficit at the half 28-25. The Lady Tigers saw the Jayettes lead crawl all the way up to 10 at one point in the second half before ADM cut it down to a nine point  Perry win 51-42. While Johanna Diw entered the night as the teams leading scorer with 15 points per game it was senior Grace Marburger who took the reigns scoring a game high for her with 23 points on the night. Right behind Marburger was Emma Olejinczak more than doubling up her points per game average with 13 on the contest. It was the Bertman sisters who led the way for ADM, Delaney leading the team with 10 points at the half added just four more in the second to end with 14 points while Sydney Bertman ended the contest as the leading scorer with 16 points. ADM with the loss now falls to 2-5 overall, 1-2 inside Raccoon River Conference play.

In the boys contest it was a back and fourth battle with ADM ending both first and second quarters with leads as well as at the half 29-26. The second half was not as kind to the Tigers who managed just 10 points in the second half, practically shut out in the fourth quarter with just two points in the final stanza. The Blue Jays went on 19-4 run to start the second half and ADM could not manage to get themselves out of their scoring funk with just four second half field goals and eight missed shots from beyond the arc. Defensively ADM had no answer for Perry’s low post presence in Janier Puente who posted up 30 points against the Tigers to lead the Blue Jays in scoring. For the second straight contest Tajen Ross led the Tiger scoring attack with 20 points on the night and he was the only double digit scorer for ADM with Matt Larson the next man up scoring just eight. With the loss ADM now drops to 2-3 overall, 1-2 inside conference play.

Weather permitting, both ADM Tiger squads will have a quick turn around today to square off against the Tigers in a different color in the Gilbert Tigers. Girls contest will start things off at 2:30 followed by the boys contest at 4:00 pm.
