krummThough Gene Krumm has officially retired from his position as the Dallas County Auditor he still hopes things will continue to improve, primarily in terms of political involvement.

“I would like to see us, maybe some kind of educational process that comes out of our office, to let people know how important it is to go to the polls and vote.  It’s sad when maybe two or three percent of the population will turn out for a big vote, like a school election or a city election.”

Krumm says there have been bond issues of upwards of $70 million and when only three percent votes, they’re making the decisions for the other 97 percent of the population. He says though the results may end up being the same even if more people cast a ballot it’s sad that in many countries people risked their life for the right to vote and here we take it for granted.

We’ll hear more from Krumm on today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program.
