It was the regular season finale for the ADM Tiger wrestling team on Saturday and they would end it in style with the Raccoon River Conference wrestling tournament. It was an eight team field that was comprised of 7 individual ranked wrestlers.
Coach Justin Schmauss and his Tiger squad had one of their more solid outings ending the day with a sound fourth place finish picking up 141 total team points. The overall team performance was broken down into 11 top 6 finishers for the Tigers, led by their two first place finishers Cooper Mardesen (220 lbs) with 24 points, and 7th ranked Andrew Flora (106 lbs) with 22 team points, also picking up his 38th win on the year. ADM almost sent three individuals to first place finishes but Nolan Harsh (138 lbs) ran into the second ranked 138 lb 2A wrestler Skyler Noftsger and ended up with a second place finish and 19 team points on the night.
The Tigers continued on with two third place finishers in John Thorne (120 lbs) and Brodrick Schmidt (126 lbs), one fourth place finish with Caleb Buse (145 lbs), three fifth place finishes with Leo Tauke (170 lbs), Charles Craigmile (182 lbs), and Kade Sutton (195 lbs). The list was rounded out with two sixth place finishers in Hogan Hopewell (132 lbs), and Andrew Harada (285 lbs). You can see a list of team and individual results below.
The next time the Tigers hit the competitive mats will be the commencement of post season play when they host class 2A’s sectional 5 scheduled for Saturday February 4th. The field will then be comprised of 6 teams in ADM, Perry, Harlan, Atlantic-CAM, Kuemper-Catholic, and Van Meter/Earlham. First and second place winners from each weight class will then move on do the district 3 tournament in Harlan on February 11th.
