Steve FisherVoters in the Greene County School District chose Steve Fisher to fill a vacancy on the School Board of Directors in Tuesday’s special election.

According to the Greene County Auditor’s office, Steve Fisher defeated Matt Wetrich by 350 votes to 190 unofficially. There was a total of 541 ballots cast for a 9.81% voter turnout. The Jefferson precinct results were 205 votes for Fisher and 158 for Wetrich. Scranton’s precinct tallied 22 votes for Fisher and 16 votes for Wetrich. The Grand Junction precinct were in favor of Fisher with 123 votes to Wetrich’s 16.

The School Board decided to hold a special election following the resignation of former board member Ashley Johnston in January.

Fisher will fill the vacancy until the term ends in 2019.

The election results are unofficial until the Greene County Board of Supervisors conducts their canvas of votes on Monday.
