Jefferson Parks and Rec 4_19The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board met Wednesday in regular session.

The Board is looking into replacing equipment instructor Heather Ruzicka’s personal equipment. Director Vicky Lautner pointed out that due to liability issues, the change has to be made. The equipment that the Board is looking to replace immediately is an econo prowler, a 40-foot rope and two small sandbags.

The Board then discussed ideas for next year’s 20th anniversary celebration of the Greene County Community Center and the annual work date at the swimming pool is tentatively set for May 6th.

Finally, the Board received an update on the national parks grant project. Lautner said the project was at a standstill because the Iowa State University student that was doing the project has stopped. The new student is Zoey Mauck. She is studying landscape architecture and community and regional planning. She toured each of the City’s parks and is working on preliminary designs for walking and/or biking trails to connect each of the parks.
