Jefferson Municipal PoolAnyone looking to improve their swimming skills, or learn how to swim for the first time, can do so for free later this month at the Jefferson Municipal Pool.

Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says Home State Bank is once again sponsoring free swimming lessons from June 19th through the 23rd from 10 to 11am and Farmers Mutual Insurance will also sponsor free lessons from June 26th through the 30th from 10 to 11am. Lessons are for swimmers who are level one to level five. Individuals must also be able to touch the three-foot area of the pool. Both lessons are limited to the first 50 registrations.

Lautner explains how the registration system works for both of the sessions.

“Now they can’t sign up for the free lessons at the same time. They can sign up for either Home State or Farmers Mutual. If they’ve signed up for Home State and they want to take Farmers Mutual, they have to wait until a week before Farmers Mutual starts, and then they can come in and try to sign up again because we want to give everybody an opportunity to try to get the free lessons because I think it’s wonderful for kids to learn how to swim.”

Call or stop by the Greene County Community Center to sign up.
