Dallas County Conservation wants to help people with preserving produce safely in their homes.
This Sunday, they are offering a free program at the Forest Park Museum called Food Preservation 101. Museum Curator Pete Malmberg says preserving food at home isn’t difficult, but it does require following research-based recipes. The program will give attendees recommendations about canning, dehydrating, and freezing. Malmberg is hopeful for a good turnout at the event.
“Please come out for our events. I know events are tricky, people are very busy these days. We try and do everything on Sunday afternoons when they’re available. So hopefully we get a good turnout for that. Please register for that. There’ll be some samples served, it’s a fun afternoon.”
All participants in the class will receive a list of accurate, reliable, and safe preservation resources, and they will be able to examine supplies and equipment on display. Though there is no cost, Malmberg says registration is required.
