The high school girls golf season ended on Wednesday at the Class 4A State Tournament in Marshalltown for Greene County junior Rachael Danielson. Just four golfers had better 36-hole scores than Danielson, who finished in sixth place on a card back tie-breaker.
Coach Heath Telleen is certainly looking forward to having a two-time State qualifier in Danielson back next year to lead the Rams. He says the team may not be that far away from being noticeably better. “If you look at our last regular season meet, we shot 208 (for nine holes), which was far better than anything we had done up to that point. So if you look at Rachael shooting a low score and three other girls shooting up their capabilities, we’re not that far away from maybe making a run at the team making the State tournament next year, which isn’t outside the realm of possibility.”
