Greene County high school softball head coach Tom Kennedy told Raccoon Valley Radio that defense is the emphasis heading into Wednesday night’s Class 3A Region 3 opener vs. Cherokee in Cherokee. He added that all phases of the game are important, but errors and other defensive lapses have hurt the Rams at times. Greene County takes a 10-19 mark to Cherokee while the host team is 23-9 and ranked number 13 in 3A.
The Rams have been charged with 3.37 errors per game while the Braves average 2.53 errors per contest. “We’ll have to play good defense, which we can. We can’t have one of those five or six error nights and expect to win, but if we hold the errors down, pitch well, and hit the ball the way I know we can, we’ll have a shot.”
