With Friday bringing the end of the 2017 baseball season for ADM, so too did it bring the end of five illustrious Tiger baseball careers.

Seniors Cameron Wyett, Carson Benn, Kinnick Sutton, Kade Overton, and Jack O’Brien will all be saying goodbye to baseball in a Tiger uniform as they end their tenure at ADM. These seniors have had a big impact on the turnaround the Tigers have gained from a 3-29 season a year ago to a 18-14 campaign in 2017. These seniors have largely aided in the program improving a 2016 team batting average of .257 to a mark of .287 at the conclusion of 2017. A big way that the seniors helped was where it counts in situations with runners ready to score; ADM hit .257 with runners in scoring position last season with a total of 24 extra base hits. Meanwhile this year, the Tigers have struck over .300 most of the season with runners in scoring position with 31 more extra base hits, 18 of which came from the seniors. All five seniors totaled a combined .310 batting average and connected on over 38% of the teams total RBI count.

Out of the senior group, Kade Overton leads in career batting average at .326 followed by O’Brien at .300. Kinnick Sutton earned a career average of .229 at the plate while Carson Benn struck for .250, and Cameron Wyett’s career batting average came in at .235. The leader of the group in career RBI’s belongs to Jack O’Brien with 45 followed by Overton with 31 career RBI’s and rounded out with 16 from Kinnick Sutton, 5 career RBI’s from Wyett, and 2 from Carson Benn.

This group of seniors did quite a lot for ADM baseball this year, and as coach Book mentioned after the  postseason game, their impact went further than just on the field.

“I can’t express (enough) the love that I have for these guys and the things they did for us this season. There were some seniors who chose not to participate and these guys stuck it out and put their noses to the grindstone and worked hard every single day. I couldn’t be prouder of what they helped us do this year and kinda set the tone for the years to come about what Tiger baseball is all about again,” stated coach Book.
