The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.
Curt Thornberry of Guthrie Center Communications gave an update on the County’s Information Technology. GCC plans to give remote wireless internet access to selected individuals in the Secondary Roads and Public Health departments. Thornberry also addressed the Board on employee training to identify phishing emails and on phone lines for the Public Health Department. The Board also discussed making the County’s website mobile friendly.
Sheriff Marty Arganbright then gave updates to the Board regarding ongoing cases, and notified them that a new deputy has been hired and will start today.
County Public Health Director and Interim Environmental Health Director Jotham Arber presented the latest on the renovation of the Guthrie County Public Health building. Arber received various bids for electrical, HVAC, and other renovations. The bids came in at around $25,000, but Arber plans to renovate in house, which would only cost around $10,000. Arber hopes to have all essential staff moved in by the end of October.
Finally, County Engineer Josh Sebern said he received a $15,000 grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation for the cold storage project. Sebern also plans to purchase three propane tanks from Drees Oil.
