Perry School Board 8-14

The Perry School District won’t have much excitement on Election Day for school boards next week, as only two people are running for the two available seats on the Board.

One of those seats is currently occupied by the newest Director, Casey Baldwin. Barring anything unforeseen, he will soon start his first official term on the Board. Baldwin, a Perry native and member of the Class of 1999, took his spot on the Board in June and realized quickly he wanted to continue. He filled the seat vacated by his late mother, Marjean Gries. When he took over, Baldwin felt he was a good match for the diverse Perry Board.

“With all the backgrounds of the people on the Board, it’s a very eclectic background that we have. From people with business backgrounds, people with community backgrounds, teachers, diverse backgrounds. I think that there’s something that I can add there, especially with my business background. And I’m really excited to be a part of that Board and moving forward.”

The school board elections will be held next Tuesday. In Perry, voting will be held at the McCreary Community Building from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Additionally, absentee ballots can still be cast from now until Monday.
