The Guthrie County Auditor’s Office has released the list of candidates for city elections following the filing deadline last Thursday.
Most notably, the City of Panora will have three new council members. Shannon Barber, Mike Moore, and Mary Smith have all elected not to seek reelection. There are five candidates listed for the three open positions on the City Council and terms are four years. The five candidates are: Tony Barber, Thomas John Flanery, Brian Dorsett, Stan Landon, and Curtis Nepstad Thornberry. The City will also vote on a resolution to change the Library Board of Trustees membership from seven resident and two non-resident members to six resident and three non-resident members.
In Guthrie Center, Mayor Dennis Kunkle will run unopposed. The City Council will also elect three members from four candidates, with Randy Nickel as the only incumbent. The other three candidates are: Chuck Cleveland, Carolyn Masters, and Brian Stringer.
The City of Menlo will also have a contested mayoral election. Menlo Mayor Michael Clarke will seek reelection and will be challenged by David Jacobson. The elections are scheduled for Tuesday November 7th.
