StuartAt the conclusion of Monday’s Stuart City Council meeting, Mayor Dick Cook announced a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for Saturday at 1 pm in front of the new “Stuart” sign.

A new welcome sign was installed Friday, October 27th near the Interstate-80 exit on the south side of town. The City, Stuart Enterprise for Economic Development, and the Community Visioning Steering Committee partnered  together for the project. The sign is a result of a concept conceived in the Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program. The one-year technical grant program is designed to assist rural Iowa communities in enhancing transportation. The City received an estimated $90,000 in services through the program.

The original brick sign was removed shortly after the new sign was installed.
