The City of Perry is always looking for effective ways to get the word out to the public about important announcements.
Their methods include a monthly newsletter in the Perry Living magazine, which is distributed to every mailbox in the City and surrounding area. City Administrator Sven Peterson says the newsletter is a good way to get an overview of what’s happening in Perry well in advance. Another source for the public service announcements is online through the City’s website, Facebook page, and Twitter account. Additionally, Peterson says his preferred methods of getting PSAs out to the public is through email and text.
“It’s definitely not junk mail or junk texts, spam type of stuff. But it’s everything from changes in garbage routes to road closures, and everything in between. We’ve even sent out a text for a missing child once. So it’s a really good service to our citizens and those businesses around. Another thing that we would ask businesses and organizations to do is, if someone signs up for that to forward it out to the whole company or whole organization just to help kind of spread that word on. So don’t be afraid to forward stuff out.”
