christmasThe outdoor holiday display in Guthrie Center’s Mitchell Park will light up the community until Christmas Day. However, the focus of the next community holiday display will be indoors. The Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library will be hosting their 17th annual Festival of Trees tomorrow from 9-11:30 am.

The festivities include: crafts, visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, and of course, the trees. Over a dozen trees will fill the library with style and plenty of ornaments. Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School’s decorated tree may be the most unique, contributing a ladder-based tree to the collection. Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite tree, with the winner to receive chamber bucks from Main Street Guthrie Center.

Even if you can’t attend the festival tomorrow, children can still be part of the Christmas magic until the big day. Library Director Pat Sleister explains the latest special mailbox added to the library’s entryway. “It was actually provided by Main Street. They have one also. So you can either stop on Main Street outside or you can leave your letter to Santa in our entryway.”
