guthrie county sheriffTen Squared Men of Guthrie County met for the final time this year to choose the recipient for their quarterly donations. This time the men chose to donate $12,500 to Guthrie County Sheriff’s Chaplains.

Panora First Christian Church Pastor, Chaplain, and Reserve Deputy Gary Freeland tells Raccoon Valley Radio the group is thrilled to receive the donation. The chaplains are a resource to officers around the county. The chaplains serve on a volunteer basis, and the majority pay for their training out of pocket. The chaplains serve through a multitude of means, including: counseling officers on stress management, visiting sick and injured officers, providing for some needs of those incarcerated, and assisting with transient and homeless individuals.

The chaplains will use the funds to purchase equipment and uniforms for themselves, and to pay for training. Ten Squared Men meets once per quarter and each member pledges $100 to the selected organization at the conclusion of the meeting. Tori’s Angels was the previous recipient.
