The Perry Chamber of Commerce has been without an Executive Director since the resignation of Bob Wilson in August.
Since then, they have operated through the cooperation of the Chamber Board members as they’ve attempted to figure out exactly what it is they’re looking for with the position. That outline is now finished, and the Chamber has officially posted the job and is looking for candidates. Board member Emily Leslie, who has served as the sort of de facto director in the past months, says the Board is excited to start the search in earnest, and look for the right person to drive the Chamber forward.
She adds, they’ve already had some interest in the position. “We’ve had people reach out to us prior to the media release, which is really encouraging. They’re excited because they know that this position is a fun, creative, energetic, event and membership-based position. But the people that want the position really want to stress that they love the community that they work in, that they live in, and they want to continue that growth in the community of Perry. So yes, we’ve had some interest.”
The job is posted to the Iowa Chamber of Commerce Executives website and others to help the Chamber find applicants. Leslie says the interview process will commence as soon as they start getting applications. She believes they could have the position filled by February.
