IMG_1920The holiday season is a popular time to indulge in sweet treats. Plenty of Guthrie Center youth took advantage of that opportunity this past Saturday at Main Street Guthrie Center’s (MSGC) Candy Land Christmas.

The event offered plenty of activities for children of all ages. The featured activity was the life-sized version of Candy Land, played at Guthrie Center’s First Christian Church. Along the journey to King Candy’s chair, participants could snag treats after passing each special stop. The stops included: the Peppermint Forest and Cupcake Commons, and a few other original and unique locations.

IMG_1926Across the street, the Masonic Hall became a makeshift workshop for Santa, Mrs. Claus, and two reindeer. The children enjoyed making holiday crafts and got the chance to tell the man with the long, snowy beard how good they were this year. Mrs. Claus mentioned her favorite part of the event. “We’ve just had lots of kids and lots of fun. They all wanted so many things and they’re all so sweet and (they) give us hugs and kisses. It’s really nice.”

The Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce joined MSGC in hosting the event. The Chamber was on hand to sell coveted chamber bucks.
