BRR Ride 2018

February may seem like a long time from now, but it will be here before you know it, and with it comes the 41st annual Bike Ride to Rippey, or BRR Ride.

The event is hosted by the Perry Chamber of Commerce, and over the years it’s become a very large event. Chamber Board member and owner of Raccoon River Valley Bicycle Lee Coons found that out first hand on his second day of operation five years ago. Coons said he wasn’t sure what to expect, but wound up having over 2,000 people in his store that day. Since then he has joined the planning side of the BRR Ride, and says they’re well on their way to an exciting event. “For BRR 2018, we’ve already got a committee together. We’ve started hitting it hard already, working on our BRR logo for this year, our annual t-shirt that we’re going to do, and maybe a couple other surprises coming up this year that we’re going to unveil. Something different this year.”

The BRR Ride will take place on Saturday, February 3 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., starting at Hotel Pattee. Coons encourages potential riders to sign up now, before the event creeps up on them. “I know it seems like a long ways, but when you’re starting to talk about something like this, it’ll get here before you know it. We’re getting our pre-registration stuff out online, on Facebook, on our webpage. Just know that that’s in the works and the committee’s working hard to make this one extra special.”

The ride will be held regardless of the weather, and all registrations are final and non-refundable. Your registration will include a BRR pin for the first 300 registrants, a chance to win up to $500 in Perry Bucks, free hot chocolate, admission to the McCreary Center, support services, and special discounts from local merchants. Registration before February 2nd costs $25, and is $35 on the day of the event. To register, go to RaccoonValleyRadio.com and click on this story.
