Transfer Station Executive Director Jotham Arber discusses the five year plan with the Board of Supervisors.

During Thursday’s regular budgeting session of the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors, Transfer Station Executive Director Jotham Arber presented his five year plan of objectives. The Board will consider those objectives when formulating the county and transfer station budgets this spring. Here are some of the key objectives Arber would like to see completed in the station’s first five years.

First and foremost, Arber would like to develop financial oversight and safety policies and procedures. These policies would cover: deposits, billing, budget control, safety equipment and clothing, and process compliance. He would also like to see repairs come to the main office, overhead doors, and walls. Finally Arber would like to implement new software to track all incoming and outgoing waste to make the process more efficient.

As for objectives in the remaining four years, Arber hopes to make several general repairs and upgrades to equipment and buildings. Future safety training and educational programs also highlight the remaining station objectives. The Board already approved one of the objectives, a new telehandler, for $81,500. The new machine includes a new bucket and allows the station to lift 1,000 more pounds of material at a higher height.

The station has also already installed cameras, changed personnel scheduling, and acquired some safety equipment. The station completed some repairs Friday, which caused the station to close early. The station will return to normal hours this week.
