November 2017 auction

Those looking for additional outlets for grant funding for the year can apply for grants through the Jefferson Rotary Club.

The Rotary Club is expected to give away about $40,000 in grant funds this year, due to the successful November annual auction and dinner. Grant Chair Adam Pedersen talks about where some of the money goes from their auction and some future plans for some of the money.

“I would say ‘top of the list’ thing we do is in the last year we have given $4,000 in scholarships to seniors going to college the next year. The rest of our money goes into a grant process. In the future we look to push the grant process more to our schools for teachers to get mini-grants to help just with the small things that they need for their classrooms.”

Applications are open to any non-profit organizations where programs and projects benefit others in areas including: peace, conflict resolution and other social issues, fighting disease and promoting health, providing clean water/environmental issues, economic and community development and youth and education literacy. Applications are available at the Greene County Chamber and Tourism office, Greene County Extension office, the Jefferson and Churdan Public libraries, Home State Bank and Peoples Trust and Savings Bank locations in the county.

Applications are due by February 26th. In the last 18 years, Jefferson Rotary has given away over $400,000 to local projects and organizations.
