Greene County closed out its high school wrestling dual meet season in Huxley on Thursday night by going 0-3 vs. fourth ranked Ballard, Perry, and Humboldt. Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams finish the dual meet season with a 7-12 record. Ballard, ranked fourth in Class 2A, was a 57-21 winner over Greene County in the opening round. Perry got by the Rams 34-32, and Humboldt won 52-24 over the Greene County in the last round.
The Rams had two wrestlers go 3-0 on the night. Junior Brock Wuebker (170)r won by 6-4 decision vs. Ballard, then won by fall in 2;44 vs. the Blue Jays, before collecting a fall in :59 vs. the Wildcats. Bryce Hoyle at 195 was also 3-0. He won by fall vs. Ballard , then collected a forfeit vs. Perry, followed by another fall against Humboldt. Going 2-1 for the Rams were freshman Chance Mccollum (106), and sophomore Garrett Tasler (113). Greene County was without senior Cayden Gerdes (132) due to illness. He sports the best record on the team at 22-4.
The Rams will go to Guthrie Center Saturday for the ACGC tournament to end their regular season. The postseason begins on Saturday, Feb. 3 with a 2A Sectional tournament in Winterset.
